CPSE Chairperson 25-26 School Year (per diem/hourly position) | | The East Rochester Union Free School District is seeking a knowledgeable and student-centered Chairperson for the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). The CPSE Chairperson will lead all aspects of the preschool special education process, ensuring compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations and alignment with the district’s commitment to early childhood success. This individual will collaborate with families, service providers, evaluators, and district staff to ensure that each child receives the support necessary for lifelong learning and development. The ideal candidate would be a retired CSE chairperson, Director of Special Education, or other similar job titles. Key Responsibilities: - Serve as Chairperson for all CPSE meetings, ensuring legal compliance and procedural safeguards are met, including completing a robust Prior Written Notice, and documenting all state forms with regard to preschool outcomes.
- Coordinate and schedule CPSE meetings in collaboration with parents, evaluators, approved preschool providers, and Monroe County representatives.
- Review evaluations and referral materials to determine eligibility for special education services.
- Lead collaborative discussions to develop and finalize Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible preschool students.
- Maintain accurate documentation of CPSE processes, decisions, and timelines in accordance with NYSED requirements.
- Facilitate transition planning from Early Intervention (EI) to CPSE and from CPSE to the Committee on Special Education (CSE).
- Work closely with East Rochester faculty and staff to support a continuum of services and inclusion practices where appropriate.
- Communicate with families to ensure understanding of CPSE procedures, rights, and service options.
- Oversee and monitor service delivery in coordination with Monroe County and approved preschool programs.
- Participate in district-level planning and initiatives related to early childhood and special education services.
- Prepare data and reports for district leadership and state compliance purposes.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on CPSE regulations and best practices in early childhood special education.
Compensation: $60 per hour, not to exceed 150 hours | $60/hr |
