Job Description

Full-Time, Tenure-Track Teaching Assistant Positions

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
• Enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior
• Help teachers with recordkeeping, such as tracking attendance and calculating grades
• Help teachers prepare for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment
• Help supervise students in class, between classes, during lunch, recess, and on field trips
• Provide intervention and instructional support to students
• Work collaboratively with students, teachers, and administrators
• Maintain awareness of students’ social and emotional needs and development

 

Job Qualifications

• A desire to work with students in a teaching and learning capacity
• A two-year degree with an emphasis on education coursework is highly desirable.
• Must have a valid NYS teacher certificate,
  • OR a valid NYS teacher assistant certificate,
  •  OR be willing to register for the next available NYS Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills Test, take the Child Abuse Detection workshop, and the Violence Prevention workshop within 40 days of hire.
