Job Description

The East Rochester School District is recruiting for a Secondary Special Class (12:1:4) educator who is a lifelong learner and demonstrates a commitment to an inclusive student-centered approach to learning. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. 

• Plan and provide instruction for students with learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or developmental disabilities in accordance with NYS mandates and standards.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet student needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans utilizing best practices aligned with NYS Learning Standards.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate alternative behavior management plans.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team to foster collaborative planning and an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
• Effectively communicate with school staff, parents, districts, and community agencies.
• Manage and support the classroom team.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Utilize technology to maximize instruction and learning
• Promote Social-Emotional Learning while striving for academic excellence
• Administer New York State Alternate Assessment 
• Develop and implement activities to support inclusion
• Develop and implement activities to support life skills

Job Qualifications

• NYS Students with Disabilities Certification, NYS Literacy Certification- Preferred but not required
• Knowledge and experience implementing NYS standards, Core Curriculum, and NYS Alternative Assessment.
• Extensive experience with behavior management preferred
• Proven leadership with classroom team management preferred.
