The East Rochester Cheer program is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Cheer Coach. In addition to coaching the varsity team, responsibilities include the organization and management of the school's entire cheer program, including overseeing the middle school program. Strong leadership skills, a positive, education-based approach, and a deep understanding of the sport are a must. Candidates must have a strong understanding of fitness and training regimens appropriate for high school athletes. Candidates should be energetic and motivated and possess a willingness to commit the required time to build the program, attract and train assistant coaches, and be productive members of the overall learning community.
Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of cheer
A dynamic personality who will get the entire community involved in cheer
Ability to interact with student-athletes of different ages and skill levels in a positive and professional manner
Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity as the staff are considered to be role models for students.
Motivate and mentor student-athletes
Communicate with school administration and cheer families.
Plan, organize, and execute off-season, summer, and pre-season training and preparation programs
Coaching Requirements:
A valid New York State teaching certificate in Physical Education (K-12) or another teaching area, a Professional Coaching Certificate, or eligibility for a Temporary Coaching License
Valid and appropriate First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates for coaches at the time of appointment
Willingness to complete the Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and SAVE Workshops within the first year of coaching
